> WHAT TO EXPECT AT A ROCK'N'ROLL DANCE CLASS NIGHT
We have 5 WEEK Beginner courses for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS with NO DANCING EXPERIENCE.
These beginner courses start every five weeks and the dates for each new course can be found under the COURSE DATES section in this website.

A rock 'n' roll dance lesson night starts at 7.15pm with registration. We then conduct a beginner class from 7.30pm until 8.30pm. After the beginner class there is normally 2 songs played so the beginners can warm down and the Intermediate/Advance students can warm up. From 8.30pm until 9.30pm we hold an Intermediate/Advance class. This class normally has 2 moves taught in it. One move is normally an intermediate move, and the other move is normally slightly harder, and classed as an Advanced Move.

We don't expect students to remember everything we have taught them in the Intermediate/Advanced Class - just choose your favourite move and practice that one.

From 9.30pm until 10.00pm we then play social dancing music and it's time to have some fun and practice what you have learnt in your class.

For beginners every week we do revise the moves you have previously learnt and then you learn one new move. Your first night will be your hardest night because on that first night you learn 2 moves. Every week thereafter you only learn 1 move, and revise the previous weeks move, so if you persevere and attend the second night it's easy!

Remember for beginners we have our Beginner Rock 'n' Roll DVD available. This DVD teaches you all the moves from the Beginner Course plus 2 bonus moves! The DVD is available from classes for only $40.00. It's excellent to have at home so that you can practice at your convenience.

Intermediate students: Some of the moves you will learn can be found on our Intermediate DVD's. Other moves will be new moves that are not listed on the DVDs. We suggest at the end of your class that you write down a brief description of the move you have learnt!

Remember bookings are not required if you're a new beginner. You are more than welcome to just turn up at the start of a course and join in. Registration is 7.15pm on any new course date!  Intermediate students can join in on any week as every week we teach you a different intermediate move.

Remember you don't need a partner as you can rotate around with other students who also don't have a partner. If you do have a partner and wish to stay dancing with that partner throughout the class you are more than welcome too!

A Rock 'n' Roll class is fun so smile and don't worry if you can't do the
moves straight away - it will happen in time. ROME WASN'T BUILT IN ONE DAY AND A GREAT DANCER DOESN'T LEARN OVERNIGHT HOW TO DANCE! Remember it's easier to dance if you relax, have fun and laugh when you make a mistake.

> WHAT TO WEAR AT A ROCK'N'ROLL CLASS

> On your feet:
Try to wear shoes that will slide on the dance floor - ladies Court shoes are OK. You don't have to buy expensive dance shoes when you first start learning. Just make sure you don't wear joggers as joggers tend to stick to the dance floor every time you go to spin! Guys your standard type of black/brown shoes you would wear to the office or a wedding/party are fine - smooth soles are the best - remember no joggers if possible. Ideally leather sole shoes are the best!

> Clothing:
Keep it casual! A pair of jeans, or dress pants are best for the guys and a skirt, jeans or pants are fine for the girls. Just make sure you are comfortable!

Deodorant is a must! Remember no ones likes dancing with someone who smells - unless they smell nice of course! If you are prone to sweating/perspiring a lot then please bring a hand towel to use during the class.

'HAND PICKED' TO TEACH AT Sydney's Annual Salsa Congress

2007, 2008 & 2009

A huge honour, we are part of the elite few to be hand picked to teach at the Sydney Salsa Congress!  Double the amount of teachers applied to teach at the Congress than what workshops would be available, so we were very honoured and excited to be chosen to teach at the Congress!  This is not an opportunity that comes easily! This is a nationally and internationally recognised Salsa Event which brings about 4,000 dancers together for a weekend of learning different dance styles.   It is the biggest dance event held in Australia bringing many overseas's teachers to Australia to teach and perform!  We will be at the Sydney Salsa Congress to teach a West Coast Swing workshop!

See: http://www.sydneysalsacongress.com.au for full details on the workshops held!
